"A while back Greg asked me how I'd feel about doing a small show of my figure paintings. It had been a number of years since I focused on the human figure, but I did have some semi-finished, just-begun and otherwise left-incomplete works in my studio. I went back to those that had some promise and worked on these paintings again. I was able to successfully incorporate my current ideas about painting into several of them which pleased me a great deal, and they are included the show. The human figure is the central concern of Western art; it's not the only concern, just the central one. After years of dealing with other concerns, I found it rewarding to work with the figure again. So, in addition to the paintings mentioned above, I did do some new works of the figure and these are also included in the exhibition." —Norman Lundin
