Landscapes, Mostly, Other Things Too

April 2 - May 16, 2026

Opening Reception: “First Thursday,” April 2, 6-8pm
Artist talk: “Saturday After,” April 4 at noon

Greg Kucera Gallery is excited to announce our fifth exhibition by Seattle artist, Norman Lundin. The exhibition, titled Landscapes, Mostly, Other Things Too, is the artist’s continued exploration of visual detail painted primarily from memory rather than direct observation. Lundin’s paintings incorporate everyday objects and settings, both as landscapes and interiors, to create seemingly casual, but in actuality quite formal, compositions.

WETLANDS STREAM, 2026

“On the whole, I consider myself to be an abstract painter. What that means is  I think abstractly but paint descriptively. This gives my painting process a dual relationship. For more than sixty years I have been driving around North America from Alaska to Mexico. The paintings in this exhibition, all based on visual memory, are of places I have been. In memory, the significant details remain distinct and those details become the source of my work.

“I should add that I am not a purist about this approach - there are those occasions when I do look at things and paint them as I perceive them. Painting light and breathable air has interested me since I was a student.” – Norman Lundin
