Cast in bronze from grapevines gathered in Walla Walla, Washington, TENDRIL reflects Deborah Butterfield’s ability to transform humble natural materials into enduring sculpture. The work’s twisting branches and organic line are enhanced by a layered patina created with ferric nitrate, white, and black paints, revealing the character of the original vines while honoring their connection to place, friendship, and memory.
